From FOAF
My name is Steve Clark and I've been following FOAF and other semantic web technologies for several years. I maintain a FOAF file for myself and have included some other things like XFN and GeoURL into my personal site.
Some of the discussion goes over my head, but I would like to understand the technology better. A project I plan to implement is to generate my homepage from data in my FOAF file so that I do not have to maintain the data twice. I've done some playing with Python and I can see there are some libraries that can parse RDF, but some seem to be quite old. I welcome suggestions on what I should use.
The FOAF Project site does not seem to have been updated in a long time. It would be good to see some new details there. This wiki is useful, but needs some tidying up. I will do anything I can to help.
My personal FOAF file was originally generated by Leigh Dodds' app, but has been extensively hacked since then as I find new things to play with. Often this has been from looking at other peoples' files. I also have other files that have been generated by other sites such as last.fm, identi.ca and MyBlogLog. The latter is fairly comprehensive. I might have to look at linking to these from my own file.
My interests:
- Writing something to parse my FOAF file into html for my homepage. I know some Python, but will consider other languages
- Looking for tools to browse the FOAFiverse
- Helping to advocate FOAF
